Fillmore West Closing Week, night 3 (7/2/71)
feat.
The Grateful Dead, The Rowan Brothers,
New riders of the Purple Sage
The
Fillmore West opened its doors in March 1968, and over the next three
years hosted almost every major rock artist of the era, as well as giants
of soul, blues, folk, gospel and jazz. Before it closed in July 1971,
Bill Graham invited the Grateful Dead arguably the band most strongly
associated with the venue to perform one last time. Originally broadcast
on KSAN-FM, this 5-Disc collection presents the superb set they played
that night, as well as those of their support acts, both of whom featured
Jerry Garcia.
