Fillmore
- the last days (2 DVD)
Once
the epicenter of the West Coast psychedelic music scene, the Fillmore
Auditorium gave birth to the “San Francisco sound,” and was home to many
of the Grateful Dead's most legendary shows.
Long
out-of-print, the FILLMORE: THE LAST DAYS documentary goes behind-the-scenes
to chronicle the 1971 closing of the world-famous institution and showcases
the very best from the five final nights of all-star concerts. Available
on DVD for the first time, this edition boasts fully-restored picture
and surround-sound audio, plus brand-new liner notes by former Rolling
Stone senior editor Ben Fong-Torres. Performances by the Grateful Dead
include “Casey Jones” and “Johnny B. Goode,” plus Jerry Garcia jamming
solo and with The New Riders Of The Purple Sage.
The film
also features performances by Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, Santana, Quicksilver
Messenger Service, and more!
